He's finally here

Chaim made his appearance on Apr. 29th at 10:27am. I ended up having an emergency c-section. Things were really scary for a while as I wasn't doing so well. I had some medical issues pop up in addition to my blood pressure spiking so my doctor sent me to the hospital on Apr. 24th where I ended up being admitted. They wanted to wait until after Apr. 30th to induce but ended up with my platletts dropping inducing on Apr. 28th. By the morning of Apr. 29th there hadn't been significant change and I was getting worse. Mind you he was just fine. The doctor made the call for a c-section which probably saved my life or at least me from some very serious long term complications. Chaim was born perfect in every way, breathing on his own, just barely over 37 weeks. He was 19 inches long and weighed 5lb 11oz. He was great! I was touch and go for a day or so as I was having a little problem with my kidneys and had to be put on blood pressure medication to bring my blood pressure down from seizure level. I spent an additional 4 days in the hospital where I celebrated my 30th birthday. That was a bummer but I got the most precious gift in our son. I was allowed to go home on May 3rd. My mom came and stayed and while I was in the hospital cleaned and organized my house and did so many things I didn't get a chance to do. I've been home now with him for about a week and a half and it's amazing. I have waited all my life for this moment. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat to have him. While we plan on trying for another in about a year or so, we are enjoying every minute of having this precious boy in our lives. I can't imagine him not here and while I'm excited to see what he will become, I don't want him to change too fast. He truly is the answer to our prayers. I even got a bonus in that he was here in time for Mother's Day. What a great present! Here are just a few pics of our Teeny Little Superguy! Thanks to everyone for all the prayers.

Week 35

We had a little scare on Friday. We thought Chaim had decided he wanted to come early so we spent the day at the hospital. Turns out he just decided to go ahead and drop on Thursday afternoon, which I did feel but didn't realize it. He dropped so hard and quickly that he busted some capilaries. So now I'm on complete bed rest. The doctor said he's already facing posteriorly and his head is engaged. We actually got to see how close he really is. They are thinking he might come in the next 2 or 2 1/2 weeks. That's a little close for us as we aren't any where near having things ready. Jason is trying very hard to work on the nursery between running errands and getting me food and cleaning. He is having to do everything and I just feel really bad about it. However, we'd like for Chaim to wait until after the shower so if that entails 2 weeks of strict bed rest then so be it. I guess he's on G-d's timing. Thankfully Jason has this next week off so he can get stuff done and relax before starting his new job. We have been very blessed by G-d. Everything is coming down to the wire but all we can do is trust that G-d will provide the rest of what we need. What a rollercoaster this last few weeks has turned out to be. This has been a great pregnancy though so I can't complain. We anxiously await the next series of events!

Week 32

We had some 3D pics done last Friday and I must admit our little one is so cute. I know all mothers say that but I do think we've been blessed. Before we had them done my blood pressure spiked a little at work so I decided that weekend to take it easy. Well low and behold on Wed when I went for my check up I was officially told to work from home the rest of the pregnancy and was referred to a perinatalist to have another ultrasound done to see how big Chaim is. I think he might be a little ahead of the weight and length norm so we'll see. I'm just praying that I stay in good health and so does he until delivery. There is a slight chance he may have to come early say around the first week or so of May. We'll see. I'd just like him to be at least 37 or 38 weeks so he's fully mature. The first week of May he should be around 37 and 1/2 weeks so I'd be ok with that. Otherwise all is great. We still haven't done much on the nursery because we keep doing things for other people. My stress about that is at the limit and we are having to now tell people no until his room is done. I'm more than willing to help out but we've put off our family obligations for too long. I'll post new pics soon! Only about 7 weeks or less to go!

Week 29

Only 10 weeks and 1 day to go. I can't believe how the time has flown. Overall I'd say this has been a great pregnancy. I've only had a few bumps in the road to speak of. I'm hitting that stage now where my hands and feet are swelling and there isn't much I can do about it other than drink as much water as I can, watch my sodium intake and elevate everything. Chaim is getting really big now. He tends to stay on my left side and loves to push and slide his little feet all over the place. I think he does in on purpose sometimes because it tickles and makes me laugh. He also gives me little punches every now and then. He definately has a personality all his own. We are scheduling a 4-D ultrasound for about two weeks from now so we can get a good glimpse of our little guy. I'm very excited. It's strange because I had dreams about what he'd look like before I was pregnant and at the very beginning of the pregnancy but now it's hard to picture. We just had the carpet in the nursery replaced and will hopefully have the nursery done in a few weeks. Promises, promises! I have to get it done because I'm to the point I can't do too much more. It's really getting exciting!

Week 28

The time is passing by so fast. Chaim will be here in just a little over 11 weeks. There is so much to do and so little time. I pray for wisdom and ways to keep my sanity. Things are going well. There have been a few bumps in the road (i.e. the fact that my sinuses and allergies just won't give me a break) but other than that I've had such a great pregnancy. Our little one is growing every day. He is more active and alert and very sensitive to the world around him. I've started feeling him roll completely across my stomach as he tries to find a comfortable position. He is very atune to my moods and if he feels I'm getting to upset I get a little kick now and again. He already has such a personality! It's a struggle to get the nursery finished and so many responsibilities and committments keep popping up but I know that the time will be provided. My mom is coming in town this weekend and it will be nice to spend some time with her. I'm wondering how much longer I will have to continue to go into the office as everytime I go in I get sick. Jason thinks it's more allergies than illness so I wonder if I can truly say I'm allergic to work! Hahaha! At any rate, I have truly enjoyed this experience and hope to have about 3 more. I'm seven months now and loving it but I'm sure by the end of my eighth month I'll be ready for him to be born. All I can say is I passed the glucose test and my blood pressure is in check and there are no other problems so Baruch Hashem! I am very greatful for this little blessing and can't wait to see G-d's miracles in him.

Week 27

It's been a busy couple of weeks. Chaim is moving around a lot more lately. I've had a few nights where he decided he just wanted to stay up (and keep me up with him). Other than that, he's a pretty mellow baby. It's hard to believe he will be here in about 3 months or less. The pregnancy has gone by really fast. I had an episode a couple of weeks where my blood pressure spiked but so far it's been ok. I've been keeping an eye on it. Also, I have to go back for the 3 hour glucose test. Oh what fun. I guess I'll use the time to finish up som crochet projects. We are working on getting the nursery in order and that is a little difficult between Jason's classes, our work and temple responsibilities as well as trying to get stuff done around the house but we'll manage. It always works out. My mom is supposed to come the first weekend in March and help so I'm crossing my fingers that the major stuff (crown molding, carpet, etc) will be done and we can just do the fun stuff. Not much else for now I guess other than I'm very thankful that everything is going so well and we can't wait to meet our son. Baruch Hashem!

Week 25

So far so good. I got a cold somehow about two weeks ago and it's taken this long to get over all of it. Chaim is moving more each day. He decided to wake me up Friday moring around 2am and didn't let me go back to sleep until 4am, half an hour before my alarm went off for work. So needless to say I worked on very little sleep Friday. Oh well, I can only pray that it's a rare occurance. So far that's the only time he's done that. We are off today to shop for nursery stuff (new carpet, shelving, etc.) There is a lot to do around the house and so little time to do it now. I pray for the time to get everything done. We have to contact the moel soon and set up the bris. I'm really praying all goes well with that. Other than a few bumps everything is great. We see a new doctor on Wed and hopefully that will go smoothly as well. So now off to the store to spend money on someone who isn't quite here yet!
